Introduction

This section brings together the key insights, case studies and knowledge products generated through the Greener Tea Project.

As a flagship demonstration under the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility, the project is designed not only to deliver impact on the ground, but to generate practical evidence and learning that can inform wider adoption of low-carbon energy solutions.

Our Approach to Knowledge Sharing

The Greener Tea Project is structured as a “lighthouse” demonstration testing and validating solutions in real-world conditions to understand what works, what can be improved and how models can be replicated at scale.

Through this approach, the project generates insights across multiple areas, including:

  • Technical performance and system integration
  • Feedstock supply and logistics
  • Environmental and carbon impacts
  • Commercial models and financing approaches
  • Social inclusion and workforce development

These insights are captured and shared through case studies, reports and targeted knowledge products.

Why This Matters

Accelerating the transition to low-carbon industrial systems requires more than technology, it requires evidence, transparency and shared learning.

By documenting and disseminating real-world experience, the Greener Tea Project supports:

  • Informed decision-making by industry, investors and policymakers
  • Reduced risk for future deployments
  • Development of scalable and commercially viable models
  • Replication across the tea sector and wider agro-industrial applications

This aligns directly with the objectives of the UNIDO A2D Facility, which aims to accelerate the commercialisation and scale-up of innovative climate solutions in developing economies.
